Attracting patients via Facebook and Instagram

In Tunisia, the first contact with a practice often happens on social media.

In Tunisia, the first contact with a practice often happens on social media. A page is a front door, and a front door is not a consulting room.

What belongs on a page

A practice page carries four public facts: where the practice is, when it is open, in which languages it works, and how to reach a human being. Everything else is optional; those four are what quietly goes stale.

Use a professional page rather than a personal profile. A page takes more than one administrator, so a secretary can answer messages without being handed a personal account, and it exposes structured fields — address, hours, telephone — rather than leaving them buried in a bio line. Check the result from a phone that is not yours and not signed in to your account. That is what the patient sees, and it rarely matches what the practice assumes.

A page is public by construction, and so is its inbox. A consumer messenger — a private-message inbox run by the platform rather than by the practice — is not part of the practice's systems, and nothing clinical belongs in either. Clinical work belongs on the practice's own surfaces, including running a practice from a phone.

A health question in the wrong inbox

A photograph or a symptom sent by private message is not encrypted to your key, not written into your audit trail, and not under your control. Those three facts describe the channel, not the platform's security, and they are why the exchange has to move.

Set them against the record. The most sensitive categories are encrypted at field level with separate keys, isolated from the rest of it. Full audit logging records every access to patient data — who viewed it, who changed it, and when — searchable by the doctor; that full trail starts at Pro, and audit log search with its investigation interface is Premium. Patient data is never hard-deleted: soft deletes preserve the clinical and legal record, retrievable and accountable. None of that exists in a social network's inbox, and none of it can be added to one.

There is a clinical reason too, independent of any rule: no examination, no history, and a photograph framed by the patient. Prepare one sentence and reuse it: "I cannot give medical advice here. Write to me through the secure portal, or let us book a consultation." What the record protects sits under the computerised patient record.

Moving the conversation into the record

The exchange belongs in the secure patient chat and the patient portal, included on every plan. A message written there is attached to the patient's record instead of sitting in an inbox the practice does not own.

Moving a patient there is the profile's only real job. Patients connect five ways: email, SMS, link, Patient ID, or QR. Each connects a patient to their record; none books an appointment, which the practice enters in the staff-side calendar with drag-and-drop and conflict detection. The portal is trilingual on every plan, as are family accounts with shared caregiver access. Inline chat auto-translation runs in the thread itself. We do not price it as a plan feature and do not promise it as one.

Read the table before promising a patient anything. The chat and the portal are the all-plans part; attachment scanning is not, and neither is reconstructing afterwards who opened a record — see field-level encryption.

What we will not tell you

We will not publish a list of what a practice may advertise — the position that binds you is your own council's. Whether testimonials may be published, whether reviews may be solicited, whether a patient photograph may appear: that is settled with the Conseil de l'Ordre, before the first post rather than after.

The product's limit belongs in the same breath. Doctopass does not run a page for you, does not post, does not moderate reviews, and does not seat a patient in the calendar from a social link. It secures the conversation once the patient has moved into it. We would rather write that limit down than let it be discovered after signature.

Replying without naming a patient

A public reply that mentions a date, a treatment, or even a visit confirms in public that the person is your patient. The safest reply is therefore the shortest: thank the person, decline to discuss an individual situation in public, and offer a private channel — the practice telephone or the portal. No correction of the facts.

Measure it the same way. Instead of a platform statistic, ask every new patient for one month how they found you, and write the answer in their file — the same file the rest of the day runs on, in practice management software in Tunisia. Multiply the ones who name this channel by your average consultation fee, then by the months you intend to keep it up. It is arithmetic that fits on one sheet of paper, and four weeks produce the only figure about this channel that is yours.

Worth remembering

A page earns appointments by being accurate, not by being frequent. Keep the address, the hours and the telephone number true, and move every clinical question into the secure patient chat, where it is attached to the record; Doctopass secures that conversation, it does not run your page and does not decide what you may publish.

Frequently asked

A patient sends me a photo in a private message. What do I do?

Do not read it there. Reply with the sentence you prepared, and offer the secure patient chat or a consultation. Health data left in a consumer messenger is not encrypted to your key, not logged in your audit trail, and not under your control; moving it changes all three.

Can my secretary run the page?

Yes, and it is one of the better arguments for a page over a personal profile: an administrator role can be granted without sharing your credentials. Set the boundary you set in the software: secretary permissions are granular, individually toggled, individually logged, with a per-secretary audit trail. The four in the product interface are: manage calendar, create invoices, view clinical notes, message patients. Seats are one on Essential, three on Pro and five on Premium.

Can a patient book from my Instagram link?

No. A link connects a patient to their record — one of five ways, alongside email, SMS, Patient ID and QR — and the appointment is entered by the practice in the calendar. We write that limit down rather than let it be discovered after signature.

Which plan do I need for the secure patient chat?

Every plan. Secure patient chat and the patient portal are included on Essential at 69 DT, Pro at 159 DT and Premium at 269 DT, per doctor, per month, collected annually. Virus-scanned in-chat file sharing starts at Pro; audit log search and the investigation interface are Premium. Patients are free and unlimited on every plan, including Essential; you are billed per doctor, annually, never per patient, per note, or per minute. See the three plans compared.

A social profile is worth what its telephone number is worth. To watch a message leave a public inbox and land in a record that logs who opened it, request a 30-minute demo — bring the last five private messages you were unsure how to answer.
